"Recovery"

“Just another reason not to waste any of our precious time."
I thought there’d be time to do all the things
That I’ve left undone until now
But the clock on the wall just goes too fast
Want to catch up but don’t know how.
The way of the wind is not known to me
When it blows through the Georgia Pines
I have lots of things that have to be done
Just don’t seem to have enough time.
The youth that I had has just gone away
The strength to make the dreams real, gone
The memory of all the time, wasted there
Weighs heavy on bowed shoulders borne.
I’m reminded each day of Life’s labor Lost
The pain of youth’s reckless way
To those who survived and safely went passed
I hope you are happy today.
I’d like to shake the weight from my back
Just cast my past deeds in the sea
But what I’ve become is the load I must bear
So the waves would return them to me.
So now sets the sun on the eve of my life
To the daylight that still I can see
Tomorrow is not just another new day
It’s another chance given to me.
If I’m up to the task I can still stretch tall
Shake the bad case of “Pities” from me
Then make of the day the best that I can
Just be thankful the day I could see.
There are those that I know who are not here today
Their lives passed them by, now they’re gone
So their memory I’ll keep, when I lay down to sleep
Just in case to my rest I am borne.

~Personal note~
There is nothing natural about
either 'success' or 'failure.'
Each has its own path
And each has its own pitfalls.
Either one is possible.
Neither one is final.
Will, Talent, Education, and Luck
Can not guarantee 'success.'
Poverty, Addiction, and Lost Opportunity
Do not guarantee 'failure.'
"Persistence" and "Determination"
Are the Keys to Success
"Hope" and "A Smile"
Are what keep them from getting lost.
We should be too busy with the one,
To ever let the other get in our way.
"Which path will you follow?"
