“Bill Clinton, O.J. Simpson, Richard Nixon, and others
who have, are, and will come into the public
scrutiny."

"The Myth May Remain"
Where do reputations of great men go
When they are no longer great
When the new generations no longer know,
Or their greatness turns to hate?
Do the history books tell us all that there is
Or only the part they know
Then remain unchanged all the rest of their years
And sit on shelves in rows?
The good and the bad, they were all one time young
Their hands no power applied
They learned from the world from the day life begun
Until the day that they die.
So what do we do with the myths of the strong
With the stories of the proud?
Do we sing loud their anthem, join in their song,
Cheer with our voices out loud?
Do we dig long and deep to discover the truth
So that we won’t be misled,
Or do we just let all the stories get loose
And follow the crowds instead?
The myth may remain to remember the name;
Old Guard may recall a time.
Not everyone here will remember the same
Some will see virtue, some crime.
To others the journey may never quite end
To questions their answers find,
The truths or the lies that each side must defend
Might leave what they need behind.
So “The paths of glory lead” straight ”To the grave.”
Reputation lives right on
If in this life’s travel our virtue we saved
It is safe to move along.
A man’s reputation, more precious than gold
No matter rich man or poor,
Should never be tarnished, bought cheap, too quick sold,
Once gone, it is gone for sure.
