"Birth of Venus" by Alexandre Cabanel (Fr) 1823-1899
"Morning Beauty"
For oft on dreams or memory Your beauty borne like life to me. I feel upon some fragrant breeze Your touch, so gentle, soft, a tease. I see Dame Venus, Rising, Morn Alive, Fresh, Vibrant, this day's Dawn. Does Angel song now fill the air? If I could but look, I do not dare! Were I the Stream in hot cascade Rivulet, Runnel, twining tracks made Along soft contours of your skin To touch the Love I feel, within. Were I the towel that wraps you Dear Again to feel your heat, and near Or even hold your fresh washed hair Forever I could hold you there. Some day I Shall, Like Morning's Shower Share with you Love, this morning's hour Not as a voyeur, slyly peeking But your Lover, with heart beating.
