"The Two Crowns" by Sir Frank Bernard Dicksee (Br)(1852-1928)

"The Silent Quest is Over Now"

Silent Quest is over now
Our hearts, at last, confess
That while our minds may still not know
Our souls have answered “Yes.”

Now starts the real test of love
That we did not foresee
We have to trust in God above
Because we are not free.

We’re bound down here upon the ground
Our hearts alone can soar
To touch the love that we have found
And feel its fiery core.

Those heart songs sung to us alone
Though other’s eyes may hear
A softened version of its tone
When you are standing near.

Though they may guess its meaning right
I pray they won’t think wrong
There is no thief who steals by night
Who sings this siren song.

We are the songs sung in the past
They never have been gone
So safe, our love, reborn at last
Shines still in early morn.

Our song no longer questions why
This quest has been so long
It hails our star hung in the sky
Where True Love now belongs.
