"The Road Home"

Traveling down
Life's road of dreams
Between the day and night
Across the way from "Might Have Beens"
There's such a beautiful sight.
A castle built with youth's own hands
When dreams were fresh and new
Built in Yearning's far off land
In Dawn's first morning dew.

I must have missed a turn somewhere
Life's sign I did not see
I traveled on, I did not care
Bright lights they beckoned me.
So further on some other road
I'd lost my way, you see
I'd lost the way to Love's abode
The place where I should be.

Now age has traveled further now
That road is far behind
I've got to find that place somehow
To ease my troubled mind.
For holes have marred that lovely road
I built with Hope's own hands
To lead the way to Love's Abode
Time's washed away the sand.

Someday when life has stopped maybe
I'll get to dream anew
Of things that never came to be
In dream's first morning dew.
For I have often asked myself
If I got just one chance more
I'd take another path in life
One different from before.
